Suite for horn and string quartet
Commissioned by the Austin Chamber Music Center, Felicity Coltman, director, this composition was premiered 27 January 1984 on a concert of my work at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. The players were Joel Tarpley (horn); Sylvia D’Avanzo and Jeff Winsman (violins); Claire Norman (viola); and Curtis Woodside (cello).
The Suite unfolds in three short movements: Prelude, Dance, and Nocturne. The recording below is from the 1984 performance.
