Legend for orchestra
An earlier version of this work was composed in 1982 while I was a student at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. It was chosen by Sydney Harth, conductor of the Mannes Orchestra, as the winner of the annual Mannes Orchestra Reading Prize. That reading was conducted by Doug Diamond.
I revised and re-orchestrated this work in the fall of 2016; it awaits a performance.
In the meantime, I have posted the 1982 Mannes Orchestra reading of the unrevised version of the composition here – it at least provides a taste of the piece.
