Fantasy for viola & piano

One of my chamber operas, Laughter in Jericho, was composed in May-June of 1997. The libretto/text my own, based on the final Justice Department report of the confrontation in 1993 at Ruby Ridge between a family of white supremacists and the FBI. Scored for voices, tape, viola, and piano, this Fantasy is a reworking of much of the material from that opera.

The composition of Laughter in Jericho was supported, in part, by a Summer Fellowship from the University of Northern Iowa Graduate College and by the Millay Colony for the Arts, New York.  Commissioned by Lou Rodgers for Golden Fleece Ltd., the Composers Chamber Theatre, it was premiered by that company in New York City on November 20, 1997.

The Fantasy for viola and piano was arranged and composed in November of 1999, in Yorba Linda, California. It remains unperformed.
