Diary for soprano, flute & guitar

Diary consists of seven songs for soprano, flute, and guitar. It was premiered 12 March 1981 at the Mannes College of Music in New York City by Judy Drudge (soprano), Cecilia Sparacio (flute), and Thomas Verdoni (guitar). The recording here is from that performance.

The seven songs are:

1. Conclusion
2. Dreams of Other Mornings
3. Echoes
4. A Distance
5. Under a Half-Moon
6. Elegy
7. The Heartbeat

That performance at Mannes had been the set’s only performance, until 2015. That year, 34 years later, out-of-the-blue, it was performed twice by two different ensembles: ONE Ensemble (Hirona Amamiya (sop), Laura Falzon (fl), Kenji Haba (gtr)) performed the songs on 12 April 2015, at the DiMenna Center For Classical Music, 450 West 37th Street (between 9th & 10th Aves.) in NYC. ONE Ensemble has continued to perform Diary in other New York venues

In addition, on 16 April 2015, the piece was performed by Eline Maria Refvem (sop), Ebba Wallén (fl), and Jonas Buckholm Pettersen (gtr) at the Studentersamfundet Chateau Neuf in Oslo, Norway. This same group then performed the set at the Norwegian Academy of Music on 27 November 2015.
